I particularly appreciate: the wonderful homecare staff with their unfailing competencies and courtesy (I couldn’t manage without them); the opportunity weekly to attend chapel right here; the dining room services when I need them; and the good manners of the staff at all levels, which is unbelievably constant! Though, like any Manor resident I am always as independent as possible, it is good to know that should a health crisis occur, there is good, very competent experienced help to call on for immediate assistance.

Canterbury Foundation's Companion Program
The Canterbury Foundation Companion Program supports residents by offering companionship to complete activities and maintain a healthier lifestyle.
A Companion can help make every day brighter!
Companions can help you shop, accompany you to the doctor’s office, walk with you when you want to take a stroll and help you with other activities. When you have appointments or need to leave your home, Companions can walk with you or accompany you on the bus or taxi.
Enjoy your favourite activities with a Companion, a friend. Whether you wish to play a game, finish a puzzle, watch a movie or just sit and talk, a Companion is a great person to make the most of the things you love to do in the comfort of your own home. A companion can also help you find a new hobby!
Canterbury Foundation Companion Program
The Companionship program assists residents by offering companionship to complete activities and to maintain a healthy lifestyle using a holistic approach to wellness. A Companion will help residents who seek the company of another individual talk, play games, take a walk and share in other activities.
There are two types of Companions. A Companion can be a Health Care Aide or a non-medical Companion. A Health Care Aide has health care experience and is a graduate of a health care aide program. The non-medical Companion is not required to have health care experience or any type of certification. No matter what type of Companion a senior needs to help meet their needs, that individual will be friendly and compassionate, taking a genuine interest in seniors to assist them in enjoying activities that contribute to a healthy and enriching lifestyle.
A Companion can be requested through the Canterbury Foundation Nursing Department. Call 780-483-5361.
