Management Team

Wendy King, Executive Director

Wendy King joined Canterbury Foundation as Executive Director in 2012. She is a CPA, CMA with over 30 years of accounting, business and management experience. She has been serving seniors in the continuing care sector since 2001 through the development and operation of publicly funded and private not-for-profit seniors’ residences. During her career, she was responsible for the operations of affordable supportive living sites and provided strategic, operational and financial direction and support for continuing care programs including long term care, designated supportive living, adult day support and home care.  She chaired the joint planning committee with SAGE, City of Edmonton, Servus Credit Union and Alberta Seniors to present the first Elder Abuse Forum in Alberta, bringing together professionals from across Canada to speak on the issue of elder abuse to an audience of 250.   Wendy collaborates with other operators in the sector to advocate and bring about improvements to seniors care and housing through board leadership with the Seniors Housing Society of Alberta, Alberta Association on Gerontology and the Alberta Seniors Communities Housing Association.

Lauran Chittim, Director, Health Services

 Lauran Chittim is a Registered Nurse, BscN and has worked in several branches of Alberta Health Services and Alberta Health throughout her career including her most recent position

as the Director of Policy, Business Improvements and Projects Compliance and Monitoring Branch at Alberta Health. Lauran has strong strategic leadership, project management, and issue management skills, including interpersonal and leadership abilities that complement strong decision making, problem solving and relationship building skills to deliver effective and objective resident-focused evidence based solution.

Jelena Bojic, Director, Fund Development

Jelena brings several years of experience in fund development, marketing, communications and public relations. She moved to Canada after completing a college diploma in Business Management in Montenegro, former Yugoslavia, in 1999 and has been an Edmontonian since.

Jelena is passionate about not-for-profit work and fundraising, and is truly excited to support Canterbury Foundation in its fundraising efforts, and to help the team in enhancing the quality of care we offer to our residents.

Howard Perkins, Director Facilities & Operations

Howard has experience in the commercial and construction industries and has certifications in project management and power engineering and journeyman status in Plumber, Gasfitter and Steamfitter Pipefitter.  His career progression includes through to senior levels and he is described as possessing core values of respect, integrity and team.  He is also described as a good communicator and makes time to mentor the newer or younger and sets reasonable goals for himself and his team.  He has led up to 600 people and was responsible for their performance and safety.

At Canterbury, Howard will be responsible for the departments’ facilities including maintenance, laundry and housekeeping and food services.  In addition, he will be a key member of the Court Expansion and Renovation team.

Nazz Baksh, Director Finance & Administration

Nazz comes to Canterbury Foundation with over 17 years in the financial and insurance industry working with leaders and staff to help them succeed in Planning, Management, Financial Stewardship and Leadership. Nazz also brings his experience working with a local University coaching, guiding and educating students on their path to personal success.

At Canterbury, Nazz will be responsible for both Administration and Finance departments.
