Management Team

Wendy King, Executive Director

Wendy King joined Canterbury Foundation as Executive Director in 2012. She is a CPA, CMA with over 30 years of accounting, business and management experience. She has been serving seniors in the continuing care sector since 2001 through the development and operation of publicly funded and private not-for-profit seniors’ residences. Commencing as the Director of Business Development for a local organization and then later as the Director of Finance and Administration, she was responsible for the operations of five supportive living sites, including one funded under the Private Non-Profit Program with the provincial government.

She provided operational support and financial direction for the organization including funded programs such as long term care, designated supportive living, adult day support and home care as well as provided oversight of the physician clinic and mobile x-ray services. Through this affiliation, Wendy chaired the joint planning committee with SAGE, City of Edmonton, Servus Credit Union and Alberta Seniors to present the first Elder Abuse Forum in Alberta, bringing together professionals from across Canada to speak on the issue of elder abuse to an audience of 250. 

Wendy has been active in the continuing care and seniors housing sectors for several years providing board leadership with the Seniors Housing Society of Alberta, Alberta Association on Gerontology Association and now with Alberta Seniors Communities Housing Association. She has also participated on committees, forums and working groups with Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services with a view to bringing positive change for continuing care.

Wendy Ching, Director, Finance

Wendy Ching is a Certified Management Accountant and has been in accounting since she was a teen, moving from one accounting department to another throughout that entire first summer. Her official accounting career started in 1984 in the property management and real estate business.  Moving into the manufacturing industry she was involved in payroll implementations and sales, distribution and inventory software implementation for 17 years. In November 2004 she started with Canterbury and takes great pleasure in knowing that she can contribute her skills to help the residents, families and staff of Canterbury.

Palash Bagchi, Director, Fund Development  & Community Relations

Palash Bagchi has more than twenty years of experience in philanthropy in North America and abroad, holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool and a Masters in Development Economics from the University of Rajshahi. Prior to the Canterbury Foundation, Palash has worked in fund development roles for a number of charitable organizations including Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta and the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CWAST). He has executed a wide range of fund development activities including but not limited to recruiting donors, institutional funding, capital campaigns and public engagement initiatives. Palash has also worked in several countries in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean with underprivileged groups and communities.

Loradonna Botter, Director, Human Resources & Organizational Effectiveness

Loradonna has over 23 years of professional experience and is a recognized Human Resources leader. She holds a BA in Applied Psychology, Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, a PhD in Organization and Management, an Adult Teaching certificate, a Yellow Belt in Six Sigma, and an Executive Management Certificate in Human Resources. Loradonna received the Training Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 Award in 2010 and the Community Champion Award, recognizing outstanding volunteer contributions, in 2015. Loradonna volunteers with the Canadian Cancer Society andAlberta College of Arts and Design as a Board of Governor.

Georges Baraki, Director, General Services

Georges Baraki has been an Executive Chef since 1988.  He has both Journeyman and a Red Seal  Chef credential. He has worked in an executive position in two prominent Edmonton hotels prior to joining Canterbury Foundation  in 1993 and has over 30 years of experience in hotel and seniors housing and retirement home settings. For two years he has assumed the responsibility of the Director General Services. Overseeing the maintenance, housekeeping, dietary departments, and building upgrades and the modernization project.

Mide Seyi-Ajayi, Director, Health Services

Mide Seyi-Ajayi is a registered nurse who firmly believes in promoting efficient, empowering and compassionate care. He practiced as a nurse in Ontario and Saskatchewan in several roles in acute care and long-term care. Mide graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2008, went on to complete a graduate certificate in diabetes education, and a MBA in International Healthcare Management at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. Mide has a strong foundation of clinical experience in telemetry, general medicine, palliative care, continuing care, quality improvement, infection control, pressure ulcer prevention and wound management.

Warren Law, Manager of Environmental Services

Warren has nearly 20 years of experience in maintenance including front line services, supervisory and management experience. Before emigrating to Canada in 2013, he worked as a Maintenance Engineer in a large UK based hospital trust. In Canada he achieved his Journeyman Plumber qualification and worked in Maintenance Management at Broadstreet Properties looking after 9 residential apartment buildings and 63 townhouses in Alberta. Warren joined Canterbury Foundation in 2016 and he is currently undertaking his CFM credential. He looks forward to bringing positive changes to the organization.
